WB Joy Bangla Pension Scheme

To uplift the backward and scheduled communities, the West Bengal Govt has launched the scheme Joy Bangla, under which a pension amount of Rs 600 and Rs 1000 will be provided to beneficiaries. People who are natives of West Bengal can apply for this scheme. The state government has issued a notice and has invited applications for the scheme.

The government has launched the scheme however the registration process for the pension scheme Joy Bangla starts from 1 April 2021.

Objectives of JAI Bangla Scheme

• The state government has launched the scheme in order to uplift people of backward and schedule casts.
• The scheme further looks to strengthen the financially weak people and provide them financial security.
• The Joy Bangla scheme aims at providing financial aid to the aged, disabled, and widows of the state.

Implementation and Incentives of the Scheme

The govt is all set to start registration for the Joy Bangla scheme from 1 of April. As per govt’s statement, necessary guidelines have been provided to the concerned department in order to run the scheme effectively. The scheme will be launched across the state from 1 of April. As the government claims, the WB Joy Bangla scheme is an integration of 2 pension schemes which are the Taposthali Bandhu Pension Scheme and the Jai Johar Yojana. The govt will provide different incentives under both schemes.

Under TaposthaliBandhu Pension Scheme, a pension amount of Rs 600 will be provided to all beneficiaries every month while under Jai Johar Yojana financial aid of 1000 will be provided to eligible people.

Eligibility for the Joy Bangla Scheme

• Only the people who are native or permanent citizens of West Bengal can avail the benefits of this scheme.
• Only Schedule casts and scheduled tribes are eligible for the scheme.
• As per the guidelines of the state govt, if a person who is below the age of 60 applies for the scheme, his application will be canceled.
• The Joy Bangla scheme makes it mandatory for the applicant to have an active bank account.
• If the applicant is already receiving any financial aid from the state of central govt he will become ineligible for the scheme.

Selection Process of Joy Bangla Beneficiary

• The Joy Bangla pension application form will be verified by the BDO/SDO or the commissioner of KMC.
• All forms submitted offline will be digitally uploaded in the state portal.
• Following which BDO or SDO will suggest beneficiary names to the district magistrate.
• The application form then will be forward to nodal officers.
• The Commissioner will recommend the names of eligible persons directly to the Nodal Department through the KMC State Portal.
• After that, the pension will be issued to the applicant by the nodal officer.
• The pension will be paid directly to the beneficiary’s bank account through the WBIFMS portal.
